Angelos Bistolas, son of Epaminondas Bistolas and Asimo nee Bobos was born in Vlahokerasia in 1953. He attended the Primary School and the first years of High School in his village, but he then had to move to Tripolis, where he finished both his Senior High School studies and his studies in the Pedagogical Academy of Tripolis. He took his degree with Honours both in his graduate studies as well as his later studies.
He joined the army in 1974, where he served for a period of 28 months as Reserve Officer. He was then appointed as Primary School Teacher both in State and Private Schools. In 1979 he married Anna Martinou and they had one daughter, Asimina (nowadays legal counsel) married to Dimitris Polychronopoulos, (also legal counsel). Their grandson, George was born in 2014.
During his service as Primary School Teacher he was appointed in a number of various posts, being nominated as School Director, Person in charge of Environmental Education in the wider area of West Attica, as Director responsible for Municipal Issues in N.D. In his capacity as Person in charge of Environmental Education he organized seminars for the in service training of his colleagues, he published articles in journals and magazines and he worked together with Mrs Tsemberlidou in the organization of a number of Pedagogical events.
During 2010-14 he lived in Luxembourg, which he honors and loves as his second homeland. He offered volunteer work both in the Greek Community of Luxembourg and in the Red Cross. He was a member of the choir of Luxembourg under the direction of Mrs Kalliopi Schilz-Papaioannou.
He is the person, who served the Vlahokerasiotes Association for the longest period of time, 26 years in total, (15 of which as member and 11 as President). For 11 years he was the editor of the quarterly newspaper “The Voice of Our Village” and has offered all his archives (newspapers, photos, documents, charters etc.) to the VDM hoping they will be useful to the visitors of the website. Angelos has worked for the directory of Vlahokerasiotes and has been the co-writer of “History, Demography and Folklore” of the VDM in cooperation with Anna Martinou and the project coordinator, Professor Nikos Petropoulos,. For the finalization of the chapter on folklore elements and the cycle of life Angelos also used his friend’s and compatriot’s late Kostas Krekouzos’ notes.
